Role Overview

We are hiring a Mental Health Therapist to provide comprehensive behavioral health services within an institutional/detention setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing compassionate, confidential, and timely mental health care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct mental health screenings, assessments, and clinical interviews

  • Review clinical records and identify mental health needs

  • Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans

  • Provide individual counseling, therapy, and crisis intervention

  • Support individuals experiencing emotional or behavioral health concerns

  • Provide de-escalation and intervention during mental health emergencies

  • Monitor and assess changes in mental health status and functioning

  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals

  • Communicate appropriately with security and other facility staff regarding mental health concerns

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with applicable clinical standards

  • Support continuity of care and appropriate follow-up for assigned individuals

Compensation

  • Salary: $110,000 – $130,000+ annually, negotiable based on experience

  • Relocation: Full relocation package available

  • Sign-On Bonus: Negotiable

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Mental Health Counseling, or a related clinical field from an accredited institution

  • Current, unrestricted LPCC or LCSW license in the State of California

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Strong clinical assessment, counseling, and crisis-intervention skills

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team

  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in a structured environment

  • Ability to respond appropriately to mental health emergencies and crisis situations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a correctional, detention, institutional, or residential setting

  • Experience working with individuals experiencing behavioral health or psychiatric concerns

  • Experience with crisis intervention, de-escalation, and behavioral health treatment

  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary clinical team
