Responsibilities
Administer and precisely manage monitored anesthesia care (MAC) or minimal general anesthesia for scheduled outpatient adult ophthalmic interventions.
Conduct focused, day-of-surgery pre-anesthetic assessments to verify optimal patient readiness and safe compliance for an ambulatory setting.
Maintain complete, standalone clinical autonomy over the sedation workspace, ensuring continuous hemodynamic tracking and vigilant airway management.
Monitor safe post-sedation emergence and oversee the clinical recovery bay to ensure smooth, efficient, and well-timed patient discharges.
Complete detailed, accurate, and timely electronic anesthesia charts and clinical records immediately following the conclusion of each procedure.
Collaborate in seamless, professional synchronization with the attending ophthalmic surgeons and surgical techs to facilitate safe, steady room turnover.
Qualifications
Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) and an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Active certification or recertification as a CRNA by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
Proven clinical competence and comfort working completely independently in a fast-paced outpatient surgery center (ASC) or office-based setting.
The CRNA must carry and maintain their own independent professional medical malpractice insurance policy covering active contract dates.
Active, valid Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
