Responsibilities
Administer and precisely manage monitored anesthesia care (MAC) or specialized minimal general anesthesia for scheduled adult outpatient ophthalmic procedures.
Conduct focused, day-of-surgery pre-anesthetic clinical evaluations to verify safe, optimal candidate selection for an office-based ambulatory setting.
Exercise complete, standalone clinical autonomy over the sedation workspace, ensuring continuous physiological tracking and vigilant airway management.
Oversee patient emergence and supervise the post-anesthesia recovery bay to facilitate smooth, well-timed, and safe patient discharges.
Complete detailed, accurate, and compliant electronic anesthesia charts and clinical notes immediately following the conclusion of each case.
Collaborate in tight professional alignment with the practicing ophthalmologists and dental/surgical assistants to ensure safe, steady, and efficient room turnover.
Qualifications
Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) and an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Active certification or recertification as a CRNA by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
Demonstrated clinical competency and comfort working completely independently in high-volume outpatient surgical centers (ASCs) or office-based settings.
The CRNA must carry and maintain their own independent professional medical malpractice insurance policy covering all active working dates.
Active, valid Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
