Opportunity

A premier part-time independent contract opportunity is available for a General Anesthesiologist in the Edison, NJ area. This outpatient position features a fixed weekly schedule on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, with no overnight call requirements and no Sunday obligations.

The clinical workload consists entirely of routine gastroenterology (GI) cases, averaging a highly manageable 7 to 10 cases per day. Because the practice operates with high efficiency, many days end early. Additionally, this role offers total clinical independence as you will be personally executing 100% of your own cases without any medical direction duties.

Responsibilities

• Formulate, coordinate, and safely execute individualized anesthetic plans based on focused pre-operative risk screenings and outpatient safety criteria.

• Administer, manage, and precisely titrate deep intravenous sedation and monitored anesthesia care (MAC) for a consistent routine of diagnostic and therapeutic GI procedures.

• Provide direct, hands-on airway management and continuous physiological monitoring, personally handling 100% of your own cases from induction through emergence.

• Collaborate closely with attending gastroenterologists, endoscopy nurses, and specialized administrative staff to maintain rapid, safe room turnovers and streamlined workflows.

• Supervise immediate post-procedure recovery markers to ensure safe, expedited patient matching for criteria-based discharge to home care.

• Complete thorough, timely, and fully compliant electronic anesthesia records immediately following the completion of each surgical encounter.

Qualifications

• Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathic medicine.

• Completion of an ACGME-accredited anesthesiology residency training program.

• Board Certification or active Board Eligibility in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).

• Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of New Jersey.

• Active Federal DEA registration and a valid New Jersey state controlled dangerous substances (CDS) certificate.

• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
