About the Clinician's Workday
Clinicians will provide hematology and oncology clinic coverage on-site in California, Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, managing approximately 2 oncology consults, 1 hematology consult, and 12 - 16 follow-up visits per day. Clinical responsibilities include thorough evaluation of patient medical history, symptoms, and risk factors related to blood disorders and cancers, as well as ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests such as complete blood counts, blood smears, genetic testing, bone marrow biopsies, imaging studies, and lumbar punctures. Clinicians will analyze biopsy results in collaboration with pathologists to determine disease type, stage, and extent, and will formulate and communicate diagnoses to patients and families. Chemotherapy and immunotherapy orders will be guided by available clinical resources including NCCN, UpToDate, and Micromedex to support medical necessity determinations. No call coverage is required for this assignment.
