Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus, a community-focused hospital within RWJBarnabas Health, is seeking a Chairman of Anesthesiology to lead its anesthesia services in Lakewood, New Jersey.
This role offers a rare leadership opportunity in a setting that runs more like a surgical center than a hospital—featuring low case volume, predictable hours, and minimal call-back burden.

Practice Snapshot:
- 3-room operating suite
- 1 endoscopy suite (runs 2 days/week)
- Case types include:
o General surgery
o Urology
o Limited orthopedics
o Pediatric dental
- Low daily case volume
- Most OR days end before 4 PM
- No trauma, cardiac, neuro, or OB cases

What You’ll Do:
Leadership:
- Oversee anesthesia operations, staffing, and scheduling
- Foster a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and community service
- Serve as a liaison between anesthesia staff and hospital leadership
- Lead recruitment and quality initiatives
Clinical:
- Provide direct anesthesia care in a low-acuity setting
- Supervise or work alongside CRNAs and physician colleagues
- Maintain a visible, supportive presence in the OR
Call:
- Light call rotation
- No acute care surgery—98%+ chance of not being called in
- Call functions mostly as standby coverage, not in-house service

Qualifications
- M.D. or D.O.; Board Certified in Anesthesiology
- Eligible for NJ medical licensure
- 5+ years of clinical experience (leadership preferred)
