Job Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school
- ECFMG and FLEX certifications (where applicable)
- Completion of an ACGME-approved residency in Anesthesiology
- Current, active physician license (state of Illinois preferred or ability to obtain)
- Board Certification or Fellowship in Anesthesiology
- Minimum 1 year of post-residency clinical anesthesiology experience (no new graduates)
- Cardiac-capable: open heart experience required (TEE/fellowship not required)
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality perioperative anesthesia care including induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia
- Perform pre-anesthesia assessments and obtain/verify informed consent
- Discuss anesthetic options and risks with patients and families
- Monitor and manage patients' physiological status intraoperatively and intervene as needed
- Direct and coordinate activities within the Anesthesia Department when applicable
- Supervise CRNAs and collaborate with OR teams; perform independent cases as required
- Document anesthesia care accurately in Epic and maintain complete perioperative records
- Participate in on-call coverage for nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
