Job Details
  • Assignment Length: 38 weeks (with potential to extend)
  • Start Date: August 10, 2026
  • End Date: April 30, 2027
  • Shifts: 8-hour, 10-hour, and 24-hour shifts required
  • Shift Types: Day shift required; weeknight and weekend on-call (pager) required; holiday shifts/call preferred
  • Setting: 6 anesthesia rooms; Epic charting system (Epic EMR)
  • MD to CRNA Ratio: 1:4 — MDs supervise CRNAs and also manage independent cases
  • Case Mix: General surgery, orthopedics, endoscopy, gynecology, vascular, plastics (no heads, hearts, or pediatrics)
Job Requirements
  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited College of Medicine
  • Completion of an accredited residency in Anesthesiology
  • Board Certification or fellowship in Anesthesiology required (Board Certified Anesthesiologist preferred)
  • Current, unrestricted physician license for Pennsylvania (no licensing assistance available)
  • ECFMG/FLEX as applicable for international graduates
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience as an anesthesiologist; locum tenens or prior supervising experience with CRNAs a plus
Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality anesthesia care for general and orthopedic surgery patients as a locum tenens anesthesiologist
  • Assist in directing and coordinating clinical activities within the Anesthesia Department
  • Perform pre-anesthesia assessments, obtain and verify informed consent, and discuss anesthetic options and risks with patients
  • Induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia; monitor physiologic status throughout procedures
  • Perform clinical interventions and emergency management as required
  • Supervise and collaborate with CRNAs and perioperative staff; maintain documentation in Epic EMR
  • Manage a varied caseload including general surgery, orthopedics, endoscopy, gynecology, vascular, and plastics
