Anesthesiologist – General Anesthesia
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. from an accredited college of medicine
- ECFMG and FLEX certification (as applicable)
- Completion of an accredited Anesthesiology residency
- Current and unrestricted physician license (Virginia license required or willingness to obtain)
- Board Certification or Fellowship in Anesthesiology preferred
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in anesthesia practice (general anesthesia experience preferred)
Responsibilities
- Provide medical management for patients rendered unconscious or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and procedures
- Pre-anesthesia evaluation, patient consent verification, and discussion of anesthetic options and risks
- Induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia for general anesthesia cases
- Continuous intraoperative physiologic monitoring and timely clinical interventions
- Assist in directing and coordinating activities within the Anesthesia Department
- Supervise and collaborate with CRNAs and perioperative staff (MD supervision model)
