Northstate Anesthesiology Partners, A Private Practice Built on Clinical Excellence, Collegiality, and Balance
Northstate Anesthesiology Partners (NAP) is a physician-owned private anesthesia practice providing comprehensive anesthesia services at Enloe Health in Chico, California.
Founded in 2007, our group has grown thoughtfully and sustainably and now includes 25 anesthesiologists who share a commitment to exceptional perioperative care, mutual respect, and long-term practice satisfaction.
We are the exclusive anesthesia providers at Enloe Health , a 300-bed, non-profit Level II Trauma Center serving the greater Northstate region.
Our practice is defined by strong collaboration with surgeons, nursing staff, and hospital leadership and by an environment where anesthesiologists are supported, heard, and valued.
Our Practice
Our anesthesiologists enjoy a broad and engaging clinical practice across two sites, allowing everyone to maintain a full and diverse skill set.
Daily room assignments are selected from a rotating list, giving physicians autonomy and variety while ensuring equitable exposure across all service lines.
At the main hospital campus, we provide anesthesia care across general surgery, cardiac anesthesia, endoscopy, radiology (including MRI, CT, and IR), and obstetrics.
The Labor & Delivery unit is active, with approximately 2000 deliveries per year and a 70% epidural rate.
Our ambulatory surgery center, located just five miles from the hospital, typically runs two to three rooms daily.
Call and Work Structure
We believe excellent patient care begins with a rested, supported physician.
Our call structure is intentionally designed with safety, fairness, and flexibility in mind.
Call is evenly distributed among group members and easily traded.
Most physicians take three to five weekday calls per month and approximately nine weekends per year.
Weekday call coverage includes in-house first call with a guaranteed post-call day off, supported by second, third, and fourth home-call coverage.
On weekends, four anesthesiologists share responsibilities in alternating shifts, allowing for meaningful rest and sustainability.
Additional voluntary shifts are often available for those interested in increasing compensation.
Scheduling is managed through Qgenda, providing transparency and ease of use.
Our balanced compensation model promotes collaboration rather than competition.
Partnership and Professional Growth
NAP offers a one-year partnership track with compensation at the full partner rate upon hire.
While partnership is not guaranteed, every partnership-track anesthesiologist has successfully become a partner since the group’s inception.
We strongly value physician leadership and engagement.
Our anesthesiologists are actively involved on hospital committees and in decision-making that directly shapes perioperative care.
Shareholder meetings and leadership participation are encouraged and supported.
Compensation and Benefits

Many of our physicians are able to contribute over $100,000 annually toward retirement, reflecting the financial stability and long-term viability of the practice.
Vacation time is generous and flexible, with eight weeks per year as the standard.
Vacation scheduling is collaborative and accommodating, with locum tenens coverage arranged during high-demand periods to support additional time off.
