THE UNIT

Private room Med Surg unit primarily serving patients with complex infectious disease diagnoses. Many patients have underlying substance use histories, so comfort working with this population and managing complex behavioral situations is essential. The team is supported by charge nurses and clinical assistants, and you will chart in EPIC.

• Ratios: 1:5 to 1:6

• Cardiac Monitoring: Portable telemetry; nurses are not required to read or interpret strips

• Drip Titration: Physician order only; protocols covered during orientation

• CNA Support: Yes

COMMON DIAGNOSES

Endocarditis, abscesses, septic arthritis, sepsis, osteomyelitis, diabetic foot infections, and other complex infectious disease presentations.

ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

• Shift: 12-hour nights, including weekends and holidays as scheduled

• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

• Assignment Length: 13 weeks

• Charting: EPIC

• Orientation: 1-2 shifts with a preceptor; full department orientation and POCT validations provided

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• Minimum 1 year of RN experience in a Med Surg or similar acute care setting

• Strong neurological assessment skills

• BLS (AHA) certification required

• Active RN license in good standing (BSN not required; step-down experience not required)

• Ability to work with patients who may be actively using or withdrawing from substances

• Confidence managing escalating or behaviorally complex situations
