Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial OB visits, intake health histories, risk stratification assessments, and routine prenatal follow-up examinations.

  • Perform clinical evaluations including fundal height measurements, fetal heart rate monitoring, laboratory ordering/interpretation, and ordering routine screening ultrasounds.

  • Evaluate and manage common prenatal conditions (e.g., gestational diabetes screening, preeclampsia monitoring, anemia, and hyperemesis).

  • Communicate complex clinical information, lab results, and diagnostic findings clearly to patients and families in fluent Spanish.

  • Provide comprehensive patient education on prenatal nutrition, warning signs, labor preparations, and postpartum care.

  • Collaborate closely with supervising OB/GYN physicians to manage complicated or high-risk pregnancies.

  • Maintain complete, timely, and compliant electronic medical record (EMR) documentation for every patient encounter.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Studies program.

  • Active, unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the State of California (or active in-process status).

  • National certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

  • Previous clinical experience working with prenatal/obstetric patients is required.

  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish (spoken and clinical terminology) is strictly required.

  • Active Federal DEA registration and California prescriptive authority.

  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
