Description

Come join our team in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains!
The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Virginia School seeks multiple American Board of Anesthesiology certified or Board-eligible candidates.
We are rapidly expanding our services with the addition of several new operating rooms on our main UVA Health campus, a community surgery center, and the expansion of our Orthopedic Center.
Qualified candidates can consider opportunities to join our academic faculty or our recently created Community Practice Division.
In addition to providing clinical care; faculty provide medical supervision of residents and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA); teach fellows, residents, and medical students; and pursue research (if interested).

Administrative time is available for academic, research, and/or administrative projects.
Position Highlights:

The Department seeks clinicians in the following areas:
  • Adult Multi-Specialty (AMS): Anesthetic care is provided in 29 modern surgical suites in the Main OR and 12 in the Outpatient Surgery Center, 4 endoscopy suites, and other off-sites throughout UVA Health.
  • Pediatric and or Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology: pediatric anesthesia care in multiple settings (ambulatory, inpatient, off-site, etc.). This position may occasionally do adult care as needed.
  • Regional Anesthesia: Typically providing 7000 blocks annually across various specialty services (and growing). Ivy Mountain is the Orthopedic Hospital (one mile from the main hospital)
  • Community Practice: MD only care is provided at the recently acquired Monticello Surgery Center on 29N in Charlottesville. No call or weekend work at this facility.
General Department Info:
The department manages close to 60,000 cases in approximately 65 anesthetic locations, which include main operating rooms and an ambulatory surgical center.
The department is also recognized as a Center for Excellence by the American Pain Society and our Pain Clinic has approximately 10,000 patient visits.
The department also staffs three critical care units (NNICU, TCV, and STICU).
The UVA Health System is able to attract highly qualified medical students for its residency program.
Qualified candidates must have an MD or equivalent degree and must have completed an anesthesiology residency program.
The Department will be hiring faculty that are interested in an academic career as well as those interested in a community based model.
Qualified candidates must be American Board of Anesthesiology certified or certification-eligible.
