Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe, direct general anesthesia and monitored anesthesia care (MAC/sedation) for outpatient gastroenterology procedures (e.g., EGDs and colonoscopies).

• Perform pre-anesthetic risk evaluations, airway assessments, and medical history reviews for 10 to 12 patients daily.

• Monitor intraoperative vital signs, depth of sedation, and physiological parameters autonomously during endoscopy procedures.

• Oversee post-anesthesia recovery (PACU) care and evaluate patient discharge readiness.

• Maintain thorough, compliant Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation for all patient encounters.

• Collaborate effectively with gastroenterologists, endoscopy nurses, and administrative care teams.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology.

• Completion of an accredited Anesthesiology Residency Program.

• Demonstrated proficiency in outpatient procedural sedation and MAC for GI procedures.

• Active, unrestricted Illinois Medical License (or eligible to obtain prior to start).

• Active Federal DEA registration and Illinois Controlled Substances license.

• Active Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.

• Physician must maintain/cover their own professional liability (malpractice) insurance.
