Key Responsibilities
Provide safe, direct general anesthesia and monitored anesthesia care (MAC/sedation) for outpatient gastroenterology procedures (e.g., EGDs and colonoscopies).
Perform pre-anesthetic risk evaluations, airway assessments, and medical history reviews for 10 to 12 patients daily.
Monitor intraoperative vital signs, depth of sedation, and physiological parameters autonomously during endoscopy procedures.
Oversee post-anesthesia recovery (PACU) care and evaluate patient discharge readiness.
Maintain thorough, compliant Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation for all patient encounters.
Collaborate effectively with gastroenterologists, endoscopy nurses, and administrative care teams.
Qualifications
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology.
Completion of an accredited Anesthesiology Residency Program.
Demonstrated proficiency in outpatient procedural sedation and MAC for GI procedures.
Active, unrestricted Illinois Medical License (or eligible to obtain prior to start).
Active Federal DEA registration and Illinois Controlled Substances license.
Active Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
Physician must maintain/cover their own professional liability (malpractice) insurance.
